Alasadair - 150 x 200Alasdair McGregor is an architect by profession but much of his career has been as a painter, writer and photographer with creative interests range from natural history and the environment, to architecture, design and the history of exploration. He is the author, co-author or editor of nine books.

His books have been shortlisted for a number of major literary prizes, and Grand Obsessions: The life and work of Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin won the National Biography Award in 2011. In shorter forms, Alasdair is a regular contributor to Australian Geographic. He has staged numerous exhibitions of his paintings and his work hangs in corporate and public collections in Australia and overseas.

Alasdair’s connection to the AIF Malaya Nursing Scholarship stems from his father Captain IA McGregor (HQ 27th Infantry Brigade, 8th Division, 2nd AIF), a prisoner in   Changi POW Camp during World War II. Captain McGregor was a member of the committee that devised and founded the AIF Malaya Nursing Scholarship in 1946. Alasdair McGregor lives in Sydney and has been a member of Sydney Legacy since 2008.
