The AIF Malaya Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was established by way of a Trust Deed signed in 1947.

The Australian Red Cross assisted in the formation of the Fund with administrative assistance and a capital contribution and later agreed to continue the Fund as self-supporting entity. Assistance is also received from the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Ministries of Health in Malaysia and Singapore.

The State Trustees (Victoria) acts as the trustee for the Fund.

An experienced and committed Board oversees and manages the AIF Malaya Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund.

Continuing the LIVING MEMORIAL Plans for the future of the Trust include:

  • Forming an active alumni
  • Consideration of an increased number of scholarships
  • Increasing the capital base of the fund
  • Securing more financial support

These initiatives will enable the Trust to make a contribution well into the future. This will involve:

  • Continuing to honour the fallen and those that came to the aid of the wounded
  • Continuing to honour the aid, support and kindness shown to captive AIF members
  • Building closer bonds between Australia, Malaysia and Singapore
  • Providing assistance to Malaysian and Singaporean communities
